HEY, ALTER! Old computers for young people.

"HEY, ALTER!" collects used company laptops, refurbishes them with Linux and distributes them to students in need.

Instead of ending up as electronic waste, the laptops are used sustainably. This saves resources and enables schoolchildren from financially weaker backgrounds to participate in Germany's increasingly digital education programs - for more equal opportunities in the school system.

We are delighted that volunteer heroes are building social infrastructure like HEY ALTER! to make our education system fairer. That's why we are happy to support HEY ALTER! Köln e.V. with our used Macbooks.

Secure and sustainable with open source software

HEY ALTER! installs Ubuntu Linux and LibreOffice on donated computers. Because dedicated programmers provide open source operating systems and software with security updates for much longer than Windows and the like, the computers can be used safely by the students - and are also much less susceptible to viruses. 💚
